“Look no further than the behavior of the media over the last 25 years, the behavior of what people very mistakenly and erroneously call the ‘mainstream media,’” Sean Davis, CEO of The Federalist, said at Hillsdale College’s National Leadership Seminar this week:
“If I leave you with one thing today, it’s to never use the term mainstream media again.”
“That phrase couldn’t be further from the truth, as there’s nothing mainstream about the politics of the major media outlets that have sought to control the political conversation for decades,” Davis said, offering five alternative labels:
- “Propaganda press.”
- “Corporate media.”
- “Legacy media.”
- “Enemy of the people.”
- “Or even left-wing media.”
These descriptors “are far more accurate terms to describe the collection of major broadcast, cable, print, and online news outlets that seek to control everything we see, hear, and think,” Davis said, calling out the dishonesty of today’s Propaganda/Corporate/Legacy/Left-wing enemy of the people:
“These legacy media outlets lurch from hoax to hoax, from manufactured hysteria to manufactured hysteria, with little evident concern for verifiable facts, let alone actual truth.”
